Bakk reacts to Dayton’s Opportunity Agenda

“Gov. Dayton’s leadership has truly built a better Minnesota. When he was first elected our Governor, the fiscal outlook for Minnesota was uncertain, after nearly a decade of deficits. Working with Gov. Dayton to re-fill the budget reserve and finally balance our budget for the long haul, is one of my proudest legislative accomplishments,” Bakk said.

“I caution Republicans who may look to upset the fiscal health of our state with reckless tax cuts. I also caution Republicans who may look to raid the budget reserve for non-emergency needs. The budget reserve was a significant factor in restoring our state’s credit rating and is critical to Minnesota’s long term fiscal health. I will be the loudest voice against emptying our Rainy Day fund and risking our state’s strong financial footing,” Bakk said.

I am looking forward to supporting Gov. Dayton’s education investments, the expansion of MinnesotaCare—an important idea the DFL Senate advocated for in 2016, and investing in MNSCU and the U of M. Minnesota’s highly educated workforce is important for business and our economy, I applaud these education investments and look forward to investing in Minnesota’s greatest resource—our people,” Bakk said.
