Bonding Committee has hearing on asset preservation

The Senate Capital Investment Committee heard testimony this week from several agencies regarding their asset preservation requests. Investments in asset preservation maintain and extend the longevity of our state-owned buildings. Because of several factors, the state has underinvested in the facilities it owns. The result is a significant backlog of projects across buildings operated by our higher educational institutions to buildings enjoyed by individuals that visit our state parks.

Governor Walz has released his proposed bonding bill. The House and Senate are working on their respective proposals. In the coming weeks, the Senate, Governor, and House will try to find a compromise regarding resources allocated and projects selected before the end of the legislative session.
