Broadband Tour

State Senator Matt Schmit will be joining the Blandin Foundation as they travel through rural Minnesota to talk about the importance of providing quality internet access to every corner of the state.

“Minnesota has spent the past decade talking about the importance of broadband, and now we need to do something,” Schmit said. “We need to implement the goals identified by our task forces and extend broadband services and infrastructure out to corners of the state that lack adequate access. I’m convinced this is the great equalizer for rural economic development. Unfortunately, a lot of our communities are falling short of the speeds and service levels that are required for 21st century applications.”

The public is invited to help set the 2014 legislative agenda on broadband by joining the discussion at one of several scheduled meetings:

Nov 11 from 1-3:00 pm at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation (201 3rd St. NW)
Nov 12 from 2-4:00 pm at Grand Rapids County Courthouse
Nov 13 starting at 8:00 am in Staples at the National Joint Powers Association (202 12th St. NE)
Nov 13 starting at 1:00 pm in Mora at the Life Enrichment Center
Nov 14 starting at 8:30 am in Willmar at the MinnWest Technology Campus (Commons Meeting Room)
Nov 14 starting at 2:00 pm in Winthrop at the Berdan Center (705 E. 4th Street)
