Childcare funding grants moving through the Senate

Testimony heard this week in Jobs and Economic Growth Finance and Policy centered on the need for childcare funding, with a call to increase placement opportunities across the state. Businesses are not able to get the workers they need because workers are unable to find affordable childcare placement. In some areas, a lack of childcare placement opportunities is hindering economic growth.

Several bills were heard this week in the Jobs committee that would provide resources to childcare providers and communities in Minnesota. The bills that were heard contained substantial resources to help with capital costs, business training, and community planning relative to childcare opportunities. They were laid over and will be considered for inclusion in a larger omnibus bill.
