Cooperative Divorce Press Conference Held

Sen. Sandy Pappas and Rep. John Lesch held a press conference that introduced a bill that would create a new administrative path to divorce without the extensive and oftentimes adversarial court process. Cooperative Private Divorce would allow couples to form agreements without filing with a court or needing the approval of a judge. The traditional court-based system would remain in place for those who choose it, but those seeking an alternative process would work with the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services. The bill will not be heard this session, but the legislators wanted to raise early awareness on the legislation. (S.F. 1361)
