DFL Senators elect Tom Bakk as caucus leader

St. Paul, Minn.— Newly elected DFL Senators met today in St. Paul to elect their caucus leadership. Following productive discussions, Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) was named the leader of the Senate DFL Caucus. Bakk had previously served as Caucus Leader 2011-2013 and Senate Majority Leader from 2013-2016. The Senate DFL Caucus will elect Assistant Leaders at a later date, which has not been determined.

“I am honored to have been elected to multiple leadership positions during my time in the Senate. It is a great privilege; I do not take lightly, to have the continued confidence of my colleagues. Our vision for Minnesota will include the voices of those who felt disenfranchised by this divisive election. We look forward to working with Gov. Dayton, Majority Leader-elect Gazelka, the DFL House and House Republicans on the important issues facing our state,” Bakk said.
