Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is the cheapest and cleanest route to fulfilling energy needs.  Energy efficiency advocates point out that Minnesota’s current 1.5% yearly energy savings goal for utilities is already is saving enough energy to supply power to over 100,000 homes.  Raising the goal to 2% will mean more jobs in construction and manufacturing and will save Minnesotans money in the long run. The provision is included in the Energy Omnibus bill (S.F. 1431), which has been approved by the Environment and Energy Committee and forwarded to the Senate floor.

STATUS: The bill is on the Senate Floor. (S.F. 1431)
