Governor Signs Into Law Sen. Foung Hawj’s Bill to Ensure Proper Transfer of State Lands Action Comes One Day after Unanimous Senate Passage

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senator Foung Hawj (DFL-St. Paul), said today that the Governor has signed into law  his bipartisan bill to ensure that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has the authority to properly transfer Minnesota county and state lands, including tax-forfeited lands.  The measure passed the Senate unanimously on Monday.

“I’m very pleased my legislation has been signed into law after being approved unanimously by my Senate colleges on Monday.” said Sen. Hawj.  “Our state’s land resources are critically important to our quality of life here in Minnesota, so it’s important that we give the Minnesota DNR the guidelines to ensure any transfers of state lands are done properly and according to statutes.”

Besides land transfers, the measure will authorize the DNR to make changes to improve our state park and recreation area boundaries.
