Governor Tim Walz signs Senator Judy Seeberger’s Refinery Safety Bill into Law

SAINT PAUL, MINN. – On Tuesday, Governor Walz signed into law Senator Judy Seeberger’s legislation requiring the use of skilled contractors at Minnesota refineries. The legislation will help prevent catastrophic accidents, protect workers, and ensure communities are kept safe. Senator Seeberger was in attendance as the bill was signed into law at the Steamfitters and Pipefitters Local 455 Headquarters.

“The safety of our communities and our workers is our highest priority, and this legislation is critical to making sure that those who are working in high hazard environments have the best training possible to prevent the risk of accidents,” said Sen. Seeberger (DFL-Afton). “I want to thank former Senator Bigham for her work on this legislation, for the support of my colleagues in getting this done, for the workers who fought for these protections, and for Governor Walz for signing this legislation into law.”
