Hauschild Delivers over $27 Million in Infrastructure Projects and Local Government Aid for Koochiching and Itasca Counties

Senator Proud to Secure Border Community Relief Funding

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL—Hermantown) announced Monday evening that he delivered a total of $27,851,587 for International Falls, Koochiching, and Itasca County in the FY 24-25 state budget.

“I’m proud to deliver on important projects in Koochiching County and Northern Minnesota,” said Senator Hauschild. “From a new marina and boat landings in Ranier and Crane Lake, to a visitor center in Voyageurs National Park, these funds will allow greater access to our prized outdoor spaces. The inclusion of $1 Million for design and planning of a new community wellness center in International Falls is a critical first step in providing shared community space in the region.”

Regarding the Border Community Relief Funding, Senator Hauschild added: “We know our northernmost communities have been impacted by the Canadian border closures. That is why I fought so hard for the $2.9 Million Border Communities Relief Grants to support our communities, businesses, and organizations in places like Koochiching County.”

The Northland Senator said he secured funding for the following infrastructure projects in Koochiching and Itasca County:

  • $1 Million bond for International Falls regional health and wellness center
  • $1.294 Million bond for Crane Lake Water and Sewer Debt relief

  • $1.45 Million from the DNR’s ATV Dedicated Account for ATV Trail Development
  • $1.9 Million for the construction of the Crane Lake Voyageurs National Park Visitor Center and Campground and for improvements and maintenance for the state-operated boat ramp at Crane Lake
