HHS Receives Overview of Recommendations from Governor’s Taskforce on the Protection of Children

Sheran PortraitThe Health, Human Services and Housing Committee received an overview of the recommendations from the Governor’s Taskforce on the Protection of Children this week. Senator Kathy Sheran (DFL-Mankato) made it clear that the purpose of this first meeting was simply to listen to the recommendations, so not many questions were asked. At the end of the hearing, Senator Sheran changed her original plan to have the Child Protection Bill in committee next week because the committee needed more time to discuss the recommendations in order to develop a plan of action that works most effectively for the protection of Minnesota’s most vulnerable children. Next Wednesday, Jan. 21, HHS will continue the conversation on initial recommendations of the Governor’s Taskforce.
