Senator Karla Bigham was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in February of 2018. She currently serves on the Environment and Natural Resource Finance Committee, the Veterans Affairs Committee, the Human Services Reform Finance & Policy Committee, and the LCC Subcommittee on Data Practices. Her priorities are clean drinking water, well paying jobs, strengthening our public schools, tax policy that works for all Minnesotans, and protecting the environment. Bigham served on the Washington County Board of Commissioners from 2015 until being elected to the Minnesota Senate. 

Bigham obtained a Master’s of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree, with minors in sociology and political science, from Winona State University. She is currently a paralegal for Hennepin County. Bigham is a  graduate from Park High School in Cottage Grove and is a life-long resident of Washington County. She is a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove and resides in Cottage Grove with her husband John and their two rescue dogs.
