Joint Statement from Senator Ron Latz and Senator Zaynab Mohamed

(ST. PAUL, Minn.) – Senator Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park), Chair of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee and Senator Zaynab Mohamed (DFL-Minneapolis), will lead a working group they are establishing on comprehensive gun violence prevention efforts that respond to and prevent future tragedies like the one that happened at Annunciation Church Wednesday. The effort will be focused on gun violence, hate prevention and mental health along the lines of proposals announced yesterday by Sen. Latz.

“This horrific act of violence requires real action that meets the moment. Together with our colleagues, we will make gun violence prevention our most urgent priority and prevent anything like this ever happening again in any community in Minnesota. We hope that our fellow legislators join us in this critical work, and that we come together to put politics aside and put solutions in place that keep our kids and communities safe.”
