Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observed this week

On Monday, Jan. 16, state and federal offices were closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Dr. King was a chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in state and federal law.

This day allows all us to reflect on the progress made by Dr. King and the other leaders who fought for justice. The day was marked with civic, community, and service projects in hopes to continue his vision and dream for peace and justice.
