SAINT PAUL, MN— Today, after Governor Walz called a special session upon extending the state’s peacetime state of emergency, the Minnesota State Senate adjourned having preserved the Governor’s peacetime emergency powers. Following adjournment, Senator Susan Kent released the following statement:
“COVID-19 continues to threaten the health and safety of Minnesotans as it is spreading rapidly across Minnesota. The Governor’s emergency powers are the backbone of the state’s tools needed to respond to this rapidly evolving virus quickly and decisively in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of each and every Minnesotan,” said Senate DFL Leader Susan Kent. “I am grateful for the Governor’s continued leadership. Now, it is up to all of us to follow public health and safety guidelines and keep each other safe. Wear a mask, stay socially distanced, stay home, and encourage others to do the same.”
