SAINT PAUL, MN. – The 2023 Legislative Session was a historic legislative session for working Minnesotans. From passage of policies that will provide better pay, protection, and stability to record public works investments that will create thousands of jobs for Minnesotans across the state, Senate DFLers are fighting for the needs of working families. This Labor Day weekend, the Senate DFL thanks all Minnesota workers for what they do.
“Minnesota’s success is only made possible thanks to the many contributions of working men and women across our state, and this weekend we celebrate and thank them for everything they do,” said Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis). “It’s important to support our workers by fighting on their behalf by passing policies that will give them better pay, better benefits, better protections, and dignity in their workplace. That’s why this year our Senate DFL fought for and delivered important legislative wins that supports working families and builds an economy that works for all Minnesotans.”
“Credit for the progress we made this session goes to the workers themselves, from individuals, to labor unions, to wide-ranging coalitions that came together to make the case for better working conditions,” said Senator Jen McEwen (DFL-Duluth), chair of the Senate Labor Committee. “With their guidance, and thanks to the momentum they built, we had victories across the spectrum of the workforce. Every voice counted: teachers, meatpacking workers, nurses, fast food cashiers, out-of-work miners, construction crews, state employees, warehouse sorters, and more. Making Minnesota the best state for workers will build a stronger economy and improve our daily quality of life. Their work, and our own, is not done, and I look forward to continuing on this path next session.”
