Third annual “State of Bipartisanship” report shows almost even split of co-authored bills by Sen. Hauschild
(ST. PAUL, Minn.) -A recently released report examining the partisan makeup of bills in the 2025 Legislative Session shows Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) is one of the most bipartisan members in the Minnesota Senate.
According to the “State of Bipartisanship” report released by Majority in the Middle, Sen. Hauschild co-authors an almost equal number of bills with DFL and Republican authors.
“This is the most closely divided state legislature in Minnesota history, which means the only way we can get things done is by coming together, finding common ground, and working together,” said Sen. Hauschild. “I’m proud of my bipartisan work at the legislature, and I’ll continue to build relationships with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle. Our communities and the areas we represent may look different, but we’re all fighting for the same things.”
According to the report, 55% of the bills Sen. Hauschild co-authored were chief authored by a DFL Senator, and 45% were chief authored by a Republican Senator. As compared to other Northland-area legislators, Sen. Hauschild stands apart in the number of bipartisan bills he has authored.
While bill authorship is just one metric for measuring bipartisanship, Sen. Hauschild also serves as the co-chair of the Legislature’s Civility Caucus, a bipartisan, bicameral caucus that is committed to building trust and understanding between parties. He was also one of the founding members of the Senate Blue Dog Coalition, whose membership is dedicated to bridging divides and bringing bipartisan solutions that serve all Minnesotans, regardless of political affiliation.
