North Star Summit: A Vision for Minnesota

St. Paul, Minnesota. – What will it take for Minnesota to face the challenges of an aging workforce, changing demographics, and the demands of a new economy? How can we learn to harness the potential of our students, immigrant communities and our new emerging industries to position Minnesota as a global leader?

These are the questions that will be posed and discussed in a dynamic and robust conversation at the North Star Summit. The Summit is co-hosted by members of the Minnesota Legislature, the Citizens League, the Minnesota Business Partnership, the Midwest Higher Education Compact, MSPWin, Growth and Justice, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Minnesota Minority Education Partnership. With invited guests including College Presidents, Regents, Administrators, Student Groups, Community Groups, Civic Organizations, Business Leaders and Political Leaders, the North Star Summit will bring stakeholders to the table, to decide what issues are most important for charting Minnesota’s future.

Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee Chair, State Senator Terri Bonoff (DFL-Minnetonka) wants the North Star Summit to be a forum that outlines a clear vision for future policy.

“The Summit will allow for a broad, statewide community to collaborate and address challenges facing Minnesota. The conversations we have will help us take a long-view, so that we not only work for the present, but better understand the challenges we may face on the horizon. This conversation will let us prepare a stable but flexible path forward for Minnesota’s higher education and workforce,” said Sen. Bonoff.
