Sen. Alice Johnson: Economic Security for my great granddaughter

Dear Friends,
Please take a moment to view this video on a collection of proposed legislative reforms known as the Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA). The legislation aims to provide equal opportunities and pay for women, who comprise half of the state’s workforce.
While numerous gains have been made at various levels of government in this respect, inequities remain for working women in Minnesota. WESA seeks various policy changes, including requiring businesses contracting with the state to develop a pay equity plan; expanding pregnancy and sick-leave benefits; protecting women from workplace discrimination and domestic violence; encouraging women to enter non-traditional and high-wage jobs; and providing retirement security for women.
