Sen. Frentz votes for prompt health insurance relief

ST. PAUL, Minn – Senator Nick Frentz (DFL- N. Mankato) voted for an amendment to the healthcare bill that would have provided relief to Minnesotans as soon as March. The DFL supported measure would reduce premiums by 25 percent, saving families as much s $594 per month. The amendment failed and the GOP plan in Senate File 1 passed. According to a statement given earlier this session by Myron Frans, Commissioner of MMB, the GOP plan will not provide any relief to Minnesotans until 2018.

“All Minnesotans, especially rural Minnesotans, have told us they want the legislature to provide premium relief as soon as possible. The bill, as passed simply does not do that.  I look forward to working with both parties and the governor to get Minnesotans relief immediately.”
