Sen. Patricia Torres Ray elected as the Minnesota Senate Chair of the People of Color and Indigenous Caucus

Saint Paul, Minn. — Minnesota State Senator Patricia Torres Ray (DFL-Minneapolis) has been elected as chair of the Minnesota Senate People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus. The Caucus priority is to make Minnesota a better, more equitable place to live by focusing on eliminating disparities across the state.

Members of the POCI caucus will partner with other legislators, the Executive Branch, community members, and other allies, to advance the needs of our diverse communities throughout Minnesota.

In response to the being elected as chair, Sen. Torres Ray released the following statement:

“Our state and nation are facing significant disparities that cannot be ignored. The members of our POCI caucus are united and determined to fight for policy and structural changes necessary to achieve social, racial, and economic justice. I am honored to be elected chair of this important caucus and excited to take the lead in the Senate to deliver real results in reducing the many of these disparities”

Patricia Torres Ray represents District 63, which includes portions of southeastern Minneapolis and eastern Richfield in Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
