Senate Confirms Three Members of the Public Utilities Commission

Senate Majority Leader Dziedzic Says Approval of Katie Seiben, Matt Schuerger, John Tuma to Allow Them to Continue Work on Commission Without Disruption

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) said that the Senate confirmation today of Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Chair Katie Seiben, and Commissioners Matt Schuerger and John Tuma will allow each of them continue their work on PUC without disruption.

“These three commissioners have already served Minnesotans very well on the Public Utilities Commission, and the Senate has recognized their talents and qualifications by voting to confirm each of them,” said Majority Leader Dziedzic.  “Prior to bringing their nominations to the Senate floor, they were confirmed by the Senate Energy Committee with bipartisan and universal support. I’m confident that they will continue to serve our state with distinction.”

Majority Leader Dziedzic said the PUC regulates Minnesota’s eight major investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities, municipal or cooperative utilities, as well as local landline telephone services, and large energy infrastructure projects such as transmission lines, power plants, solar farms, wind farms and pipelines.
