Senate DFL Leader López Franzen Announces Carly Melin to Serve as Senate DFL Chief of Staff

Senate DFL Leader Melisa López Franzen is announcing today that Carly Melin will become Chief of Staff for the Minnesota Senate DFL Caucus, effective November 29. 

“I am pleased to announce that Carly Melin will be joining the Senate DFL Caucus in the role of Chief of Staff. Carly brings significant legislative and leadership experience having served three terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives, including as Assistant Majority Leader. She is a dedicated public servant who brings her extensive experience in building relationships with members and staff in both bodies of the state legislature, the executive branch, and state agencies, as well as experience leading and executing strategy to our work of advancing and expanding policy priorities aimed at improving the lives of all Minnesotans.”

Melin currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office and previously as an Assistant County Attorney in St. Louis County. She has also previously served as Executive Director of the Minnesota State Building and Construction Trades Council. 

Cynthia Bauerly will continue in her role as Interim Chief of Staff until November 29.
