Senate DFL Leader López Franzen Statement on Republican Threats to Remove Commissioner Malcolm

As discussions continue on a potential special session to address drought relief for farmers and hero pay for essential workers, Senate Republicans continue to threaten the removal of Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm. In response, Senate DFL Leader Melisa López Franzen released the following statement.

“At a time when we are facing some of the highest COVID infection rates of 2021, it is imperative that we keep Commissioner Malcolm in her position at the Department of Health. Her work is essential as we continue the rollout of vaccinations for children ages 5 to 11 and provide boosters to those who are eligible. I urge my Republican colleagues to stop playing partisan politics with Minnesotans’ lives and work with us to deliver drought relief to our farmers and hero pay for all of our essential workers who continue to risk their lives.”
