ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Senate announced its committee assignments for the upcoming 2021-22 Legislative Session. In the upcoming session, the Senate will consist of 29 committees.
In response, DFL Leader Senator Susan Kent released the following statement:
“The Senate DFL is ready to get to work in the 2021 Legislative Session to build back better as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, craft a budget that reflects our shared values, and ensure that every member of our community has the opportunity to succeed. With caucus members in rural, suburban, and urban communities, we are ready to work towards legislative priorities that recognize we are One Minnesota.
Sadly, COVID-19 remains an all too pressing concern for the health and safety for everyone in the state and presents challenges to conducting Senate business. This is only made more challenging with few committee memberships available to ensure every community has the voice it deserves on these issues.
I appreciate Leader Gazelka and the Senate Majority’s openness to adding additional committee spots as we move forward. While we continue to face challenging circumstances, Minnesotans expect and deserve a Senate that works for them. We look forward to doing that work.”
