SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) released the following statement on the contract agreement reached by the Teamsters and Blandin Paper Company in the four-week-old Blandin Paper Strike.
“I don’t know the details but was pleased to hear about the agreement between the Teamsters and Blandin announced today. I met with the workers last month in Grand Rapids. They want what every worker wants: good wages to support their families, a safe place to work, job and retirement security, and affordable health care. It was encouraging that both sides were working toward a new contract in the last few days. A fair agreement will benefit workers and their families, the company, and the entire community. I look forward to seeing the Blandin employees back on the job as soon as possible.”
In July, Senator Dziedzic traveled to Grand Rapids to meet with the striking workers, where she urged the company to restart negotiations and work toward a fair contract.
