SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy (DFL-St. Paul) released the following statement today.
“I am happy the House caucuses have reached an agreement to organize that respects the will of the voters.
Beginning today, the full Legislature begins the critical work of building an equitable, responsible budget that serves the needs of Minnesota communities and families. There is not a moment to waste.
The actions of the Trump administration, threatened or already imposed, will fundamentally undermine our ability to effectively deliver things Minnesotans depend on; affordable health care, jobs to support our families, and child care, available across the state.
Overcoming the chaos, uncertainty, and incompetence of the Trump administration will require the clear eyed leadership of the four caucuses and Governor Walz to understand the impact of these punitive executive orders, to resist them when possible and to weather their fallout when we cannot.
The Senate DFL majority is ready to face these challenges and meet our faithful commitment to the people of Minnesota. As always, we welcome the input of Minnesotans as we proceed the work of the 2025 session.
Let’s get to work.”
