Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy Says Senate Unanimously Confirms Carol Flynn, Faris Rashid to New Campaign Finance Board Terms

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy (DFL- St. Paul) said today the Senate has unanimously confirmed both Carol Flynn and Faris Rashid to new terms on the state’s Campaign Finance Board (CFB). 

Majority Leader Murphy said the two are currently serving on the CFB, and Governor Walz nominated each for new terms.  With Senate confirmation today, they will serve terms ending in 2027.

“Minnesota has long had a campaign finance system that is transparent, fair and accountable,” said Majority Leader Murphy.  “Both Carol Flynn and Faris Rashid have used their experience and talents to ensure confidence in Minnesota’s elections remains the highest in the nation.”

“It is great to see the unanimous reappointment of Carol Flynn and Faris Rashid to the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board,” said Senator Jim Carlson (DFL-Eagan), chair of the Senate Elections Committee. “Their continued efforts have strengthened Minnesota’s free and fair elections. I am grateful for their public service and know that our campaign finance system is in good hands.”

Flynn, a former DFL Senator, was first appointed to the CFB by Governor Dayton in 2015 and reappointed in 2020 by Governor Walz.  

Rashid, the current CFB Vice Chair, was first appointed by Walz in 2020, and reappointed in 2021.
