Senate POCI Caucus on the killing of Aniya Allen

Six-year-old Aniya Allen was shot in the head during a shooting in North Minneapolis on Monday. She passed away at the Hennepin County Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon.

In response to the tragic killing, the Senate POCI Caucus released the following statement:

“We mourn the tragic killing of Aniya Allen and express our most profound sympathies to her family, friends, and loved ones who are grieving her passing.”

“The importance of addressing the plague of gun violence weighs heavily on all of us as three Minneapolis children have been victims of shootings in just the past two weeks. We join together as one to condemn this violence and to stand with the families of Aniya Allen, Ladavionne Garrett Jr., and Trinity Ottoson-Smith, who have endured the painful experience of having children hospitalized due to gun violence.”

“It will take all of us working hand-in-hand to develop solutions to public safety that allow everyone to be safe and feel safe in Minneapolis and across our state.”
