Senate President Bobby Joe Champion’s Restore the Vote Signed into Law by Governor Tim Walz

Senator from North Minneapolis Heralds the Bill Signing as a Monumental Occasion

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – This morning, Governor Walz signed Restore the Vote (HF 28) into state law. The legislation, chief authored by Senate President Bobby Joe Champion (DFL – Minneapolis), restores voting rights for individuals with felony records who are not incarcerated.

“This morning, we did something special — we restored voting rights for over 55,000 Minnesotans,” said Senator Champion. “This was a monumental occasion that was made possible by so many advocates, faith leaders, and elected officials who were determined to make sure that all of our neighbors and community members have a voice in our government. I want to thank our fantastic Attorney General Keith Ellison as well as Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan for their leadership on this issue.”
