Senator Ann Rest Receives “Lifetime Achievement” Award from MN Broadcasters Association

ST. PAUL, Minn. –  The Minnesota Broadcasters Association has honored Senator Ann Rest (DFL-New Hope) with its “Lifetime Achievement Award” for her decades of  support for freedom of speech, protecting the First Amendment, and for understanding the important role Minnesota’s broadcasters play in keeping the state’s citizens informed about important issues.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Minnesota Broadcasters Association for what has been a central part of my work in public life: standing up for the rights of everyone to speak their mind and to understand – and have input on – what their government is doing,” said Senator Rest, who has served in both the Minnesota House and then the Minnesota Senate for more than 40 years. “The MBA, and the broadcast communities it represents, are critically important to ensuring that people across our state understand the decisions that are being made at the State Capitol and what it means to their families, their businesses and their communities.  I am so pleased to have gotten this award.”

MBA President Wendy Paulson, who presented the award to Senator Rest, said: “We want to thank Senator Rest, for her unwavering support for Freedom of Speech and Local Journalism.  Her commitment to protecting the First Amendment and strengthening Minnesota’s local broadcast communities ensures that Minnesota citizens remain informed, engaged and entertained.”
