Senator Bakk responds to Nolan retirement announcement

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Senate DFL Leader Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, released the following statement today after U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan’s retirement announcement:

“I congratulate Rick on his long career in public service, from his time in the Minnesota House to his six terms in the United States Congress. He has served the Arrowhead Region with passion and independence. His legacy as one of the most effective members of Congress will not be forgotten. Rick represented the people of the eighth district well, and I know he would have won in November if he’d stayed in the race. I wish the entire Nolan family the very best as they move on to the next chapter of life.”

“While Rick will be missed in Congress, my priority continues to be representing the people of Senate District 3 and building a DFL majority in the Minnesota Senate.”
