Latino Chamber of Commerce Bestows “Excellence in Leadership and Service” Award Thursday
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senator Bobby Joe Champion (DFL-Minneapolis) was honored by the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Minnesota for his work and leadership that has benefitted Minnesota’s Latino Community.
Senator Champion, who Chairs the Senate Jobs and Economic Development Committee, was given the Chamber’s “Excellence in Leadership and Service Award” at the Chamber’s annual Business Awards dinner Thursday for his work over the past several years to support businesses and families in the Latino community.
“This award is a great honor for me. I have proudly supported policies that strengthen Latino businesses, entrepreneurs, and families, the very foundation of the community,” said Senator Champion. “When the Latino community succeeds, our entire state succeeds. That’s why I’ll continue working with Latino leaders to enact policies that create jobs and foster economic development, not only within Latino communities, but across the entire state. We know those key investments strengthen Minnesota many times over.”
Senator Champion’s work on behalf of the community has included securing funding for the Latino Economic Development Center, as well as funding for several Latino community organizations that enhance the well-being of the community. Senator Champion’s Promise Act legislation, which was signed into law in 2023, has also boosted many Latino small businesses facing economic hurdles and allowed them to thrive.
