Governor Walz appointed Bo Thao-Urabe, executive director and co-founder of the Coalition of Asian American Leaders, as a University of Minnesota Regent Tuesday. Her appointment will allow her to fulfill the 6-year term of former Regent Kao Ly Ilean Her, who passed away unexpectedly in May.
In response Senator Jim Carlson (DFL-Eagan) released the following statement:
“The unfortunate death of Regent Kao Ly Ilean Her was a terrible loss for not just the Hmong and University of Minnesota community, but for our entire state. I applaud Governor Walz for selecting someone to fulfill her term that will embody the values vital to this role, who will make a fantastic addition to the Board of Regents. Bo Thao-Urabe is a leader who will bring valuable insight, experience, and expertise to the Board, and I look forward to working with her in the coming years.”
