Senator Dahle meets with nutritionists to discuss childhood nutrition, school lunches

This week at the Capitol, Senator Kevin Dahle (DFL – Northfield) met with various nutritionists. Among the topics discussed were childhood nutrition and school lunches.

Earlier in the week, Sen. Dahle heard various bills in committee to increase state aid to school lunches. The bills did two things: increase the state funding for every lunch to help offset the increase in price for more nutritional lunches and eliminate the need for low-income families to pay for school lunch, ensuring more kids will eat a healthy meal.

“I welcome opportunities to hear from experts and I appreciate the insight gained from my conversation with the nutritionists,” said Senator Dahle. “As an educator, I have seen firsthand the difference a healthy lunch makes in attention span and behavior in students.”
