Senator Erin Murphy Named Senate Majority Leader After Newly-Elected Senator Doron Clark Sworn in Monday

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senator Erin Murphy (DFL-St. Paul) was elected Majority Leader today by her Senate colleagues after newly-elected Senator Doron Clark (DFL-Minneapolis) was sworn in, returning the DFL to a 34-33 majority.  Senator Clark was elected last week to replace the late Kari Dziedzic, who died in late December.

“At the beginning of this session, because of the death of our treasured colleague Kari Dziedzic, we found ourselves in a 33-33 tie in the Senate. Together, the Senate acted responsibly with a temporary power-sharing agreement,” Said Majority Leader Murphy.  “The election of Senator Doron Clark puts the DFL back in the majority, and I am eager to work alongside my new colleague.  The Senate DFL Caucus will continue to prioritize the values and needs of the people of Minnesota.”
