ST. PAUL, Minn — Senator Foung Hawj (DFL-St. Paul) joined other St. Paul legislators and city leaders on Thursday to celebrate the dedication of Allianz Field’s latest addition: The 25-ton stainless steel sculpture of a loon taking flight. The sculpture, titled “The Calling,” is a creation of California-based Scottish artist Andy Scott and was installed in the stadium’s sculpture park in September.
“Loons are a powerful and irreplaceable symbol of what makes Minnesota unique, and I am delighted to have joined local leaders for the dedication of ‘The Calling’,” said Senator Hawj. “I’m proud that the Senate DFL helped make this work possible by providing funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. This sculpture will awe and inspire countless visitors to take pride in our state and Minnesota United FC for years to come.”
Senator Hawj was joined by Senator Sandy Pappas (DFL-St. Paul), Representative Kaohly Vang Her (DFL-St. Paul), Representative Leon Lillie (DFL-North St. Paul), Representative Ethan Cha (DFL-Woodbury), St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, St. Paul City Council President Mitra Jalali, Council Member Anika Bowie, Council Member Anika Bowie, Minnesota United team owner Dr. Bill McGuire, and other local officials.
