Senator Foung Hawj Sworn-in as Senate District 67 Senator

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2021 Legislative Session began Tuesday, January 5 with the swearing-in of the new and returning members of the Minnesota Legislature. State Senator Foung Hawj (DFL-St. Paul) will be returning for a third term as the Senator for Senate District 67.

“We are facing challenging times for our state and community, I promise to work hard for my constituents in addressing the key issues facing all of us,” said Senator Hawj. “We have much work to do in building a brighter future for every Minnesotan, addressing the ongoing effects of COVID-19, and in crafting a fair, just, and balanced budget.”

Senator Hawj was elected to serve as an Assistant DFL Leader for the 2021-2022 Legislative Session and will be a member of three Senate Committees. Senator Hawj will serve as the DFL lead on the Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Legacy Finance Committee and will also serve on the Jobs Finance and Policy Committee and the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

“In my time at the Senate, I have always been focused on strong environmental and natural resources management, arts and cultural heritage support through legacy funds, jobs and workforce development, and in how we can do more for our veterans,” said Senator Hawj. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work on these issues in the upcoming year.”
