Senator Hauschild Announces $3 Million for 148th Fighter Wing in Senate Capital Investment Bonding Bill

Bonding Bill Still Requires Super Majority Approval to Pass

[SAINT PAUL, MN] — Tonight, Senator Hauschild announced the inclusion of $3 Million for the 148th Fighter Wing in the Senate Capital Investment Bill. The funding would assist in the construction of a new hangar for the 148th Fighter Wing. The Duluth Chamber of Commerce has served as the lead advocate for the new hangar funding because the military cannot formally advocate for it themselves.

Senator Hauschild has carried a bill for $25 million in support of the 148th for the past two legislative sessions and worked to have a first round of funding included in this year’s bonding bill. Senator Hauschild toured the 148th Air National Guard Base last Summer to learn more about the need for the new hangar given the dilapidated state of the current hangars.

“We are proud to have the men and women of the 148th Fighter Wing right here in the Northland because we know how important they are to our state and national security.” Senator Hauschild added, “Ensuring the long-term viability of the 148th Air National Guard Base is a top priority for me, which is why I have fought to include funding for their much-needed hangar upgrades since entering the State Senate. I’m proud to say that we have secured the first round of funding in this year’s bonding bill, now we must push for a strong bipartisan vote to deliver it.”
