Senator Hauschild Statement on End of Regular Session; Named to Taxes Working Group

(ST. PAUL, Minn.) – The 2025 regular legislative session came to a close on Monday, May 20 following adjournment by both the Senate and House of Representatives. While work on the state budget remains incomplete, Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) remains committed to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to finish the job.

“The circumstances of the 2025 Legislative Session were unprecedented in state history, yet before adjournment we had found bipartisan agreement on a balanced budget framework. Now, the work to finish that budget continues,” said Sen. Hauschild. “Minnesotans expect us to come together, find common ground, and get our work done. I remain committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in both the Senate and the House to pass a responsible, balanced budget that delivers for the Northland.”

With a budget agreement between the Senate, House, and Governor Walz in place, legislators are continuing their efforts to finish a state budget in bipartisan working groups. On Tuesday, Sen. Hauschild was named to the working group on Taxes and will continue to serve on the previously established Jobs and Labor working group.

“From an unemployment benefit extension for laid off steelworkers to seasonal recreational tax changes that will help our rural schools, I will keep fighting for the interest of Northern Minnesota,” said Sen. Hauschild. “Now, let’s roll up our sleeves, and finish the job.”
