SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Senator Heather Gustafson (DFL–Vadnais Heights) announced Monday evening that she secured $19.6 Million in funding for infrastructure projects in her Senate District through two bonding bills passed on the final day of the 2023 legislative session.
“I’m proud to have secured nearly $20 Million for four great, job-creating infrastructure projects in my district,” said Senator Gustafson. “These projects will ensure that our communities have safe drinking water and world-class parks and trails. When I ran for office, I told my neighbors that I would fight to deliver for our district, and that’s exactly what I’ve done throughout this process. I worked hard to make sure that these projects were included in the final bonding deal and I was glad to vote yes on both bonding bills today.”
Senator Gustafson authored four bills that were included in the final bonding bills:
- $13.5 Million for Lino Lakes Water Treatment Plant and Accompanying Water Utility Infrastructure improvements
- $5 Million for Bruce Vento Regional Trail expansion in White Bear Lake
- $492,000 for Lino Lakes Correctional Facility renovations
- $200,000 for design of Rice Creek Trail in Circle Pines
Senator Gustafson also said that she secured an additional $7 Million earmark in the Transportation Budget which will go toward improving road infrastructure in White Bear Township, a project that White Bear Township officials requested year after year to no avail.
“It’s a new day for White Bear Township and all of our Senate District’s communities,” added Gustafson. “The days of unanswered questions, ignored requests, and divisive politics are over. My job is to solve problems and deliver funding to make our communities stronger. That’s what I’ve done every day since I was sworn in, and I will continue to fight for our communities at the State Capitol.”
