ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Monday the Minnesota Senate announced it was naming Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Coon Rapids) to the Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Conference Committee. A conference committee is called when the Senate and House have passed different bills, and a smaller group of legislators meet to put together a bill both sides can agree upon. Hoffman’s work on clean water and other environmental issues will serve the Conference Committee well.
“It’s such an honor to be named as a conferee to this negotiating committee. This is something I’ve really been looking forward to doing and it will be a learning experience that will help make me a better legislator, and a better representative to the people in my district,” said Hoffman. “There are a lot of things in this bill that will have an effect on everyone in Minnesota, from the state parks near their homes to the water issues in their community, these are the sorts of things we will be fighting for in committee.”
Other senators named to the conference committee include Sen. David Tomassoni (DFL-Chisholm), Sen. Dan Sparks (DFL-Austin), Sen. John Marty (DFL-Roseville) and Sen. Bill Weber (R-Luverne).
