In recognition of leadership to help Minnesotans facing substance use issues and in recovery, the Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Mental Health (MARRCH) have named Senator John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin) and Senator Abeler (R-Anoka) their 2021 Legislators of the Year.
“I’m proud of the work we did this year to build more support and strengthen funding for programs that ensure Minnesotans are able to receive the care they need when faced with chemical health and substance abuse issues,” said Senator Hoffman. “Helping those in recovery is a bipartisan issue, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature to build on these programs and ensure every Minnesotan can get the help they need.”
In selecting Senator Hoffman and Senator Abeler for the award, MARRCH cited their work in supporting innovative programs, protecting the rate enhancements for substance use disorder services and building on them to ensure providers can provide quality care for those struggling, and to fund a number of grants that serve those in recovery.
Senator Hoffman and Senator Abeler were presented with the award at the 2021 MARRCH President’s Awards Dinner on the evening of Tuesday, October 26. The MARRCH President’s Awards Dinner recognized individuals and organizations working to build and strengthen the continuum of care, enhance access to treatment and support our communities through leadership and education.
