Senator Hoffman: Senate Human Services Offer is Balanced, Responsible Approach to Budget

(ST. PAUL, Minn.) – Sunday evening, Senator John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin), chair of the Senate Human Services Committee, made the attached offer to the House and requested a meeting of the first conference committee as soon as possible. The Senate offer focuses on equitable impacts, support for local governments, tackling the behavioral health crisis, workforce investments, and community-based services.

Following the offer, Senator Hoffman released the following statement:

“This offer reflects the Senate’s strong commitment to addressing the pressing needs of vulnerable Minnesotans and supporting the frontline providers and programs that serve them. As we approach the 11th hour of the Session, we should remember what Jim Ramstad said and leave our egos in the hallway and focus on the needs and what’s important. I urge House conferees to work with us, find common ground, and get a Human Services budget passed before today’s adjournment.”

Attached is the formal offer made by Senator Hoffman, and a link to the spreadsheet containing the Senate proposal.
