ST. PAUL, Minn. — As Minnesota marks Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, which begins Oct. 21, Senator Jen McEwen (DFL-Duluth) celebrated the numerous programs Minnesota has enacted to help schools, families and business owners remove lead from their daily lives.
“All Minnesotans should be able to live free of the worry that their drinking water may threaten their families’ health by lead contamination,” said Senator McEwen. “Whether at home, at work, or in school, lead exposure poses a serious threat to human health, especially to children and young people. I am honored to have worked with municipalities, labor, public health and clean water advocates to help pass $240 million in grant funding for Minnesotans to replace lead drinking water service pipes, and I’m proud that as a state, we are leading the way toward removing all lead service lines in the next decade.”
