ST. PAUL, Minn. – Today marks two years since the insurrection at the United States Capitol. In recognition of the event that occurred, Senator Jim Carlson (DFL-Eagan) released the following statement condemning the attack:
“It goes without saying that the anniversary of the January 6 insurrection invokes both dark and harrowing reflection. But it also serves as a reminder of the commitment I made to the people of Minnesota and also the responsibility I have in protecting democracy and rejecting any sentiment that would undermine it. As the Chair of the Elections Committee, I take this duty especially seriously and refuse to stand idly by.
With a Senate DFL Majority and Trifecta, Minnesota is set up to make significant strides forward in protecting democracy and removing barriers that disenfranchise voters. With this historic opportunity within arms reach, myself and the other members of the Elections Committee are committed to doing the work of protecting democracy, promoting free and fair elections, and debunking the ‘Big Lie.’”
