ST. PAUL, Minn. – During Thursday’s meeting of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, Senator John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin) presented his legislation enhancing penalties for impersonating a police officer and requiring the removal of identifying equipment and insignia from emergency vehicles sold to the public. Both measures were advanced out of the committee.
Following advancement, Senator Hoffman issued the following statement:
“I am grateful for the strong, bipartisan support from the Judiciary Committee on these important issues. This is about maintaining trust and integrity in our legitimate law enforcement, making sure people who violate that trust are held accountable, and hopefully preventing anyone from ever doing it. This will protect Minnesotans.”
