Senator Judy Seeberger Celebrates Over $72 Million Included in Bonding Bill for Hastings and Cottage Grove

Funding secured for Veterans Home, water treatment project, and critical road infrastructure

(ST. PAUL, MN) — On Sunday, May 17, the Senate passed a comprehensive, bipartisan $1.2 billion bonding package (HF 719 passed 60-7 and HF 2484 passed 52-15). The two bills invest in Minnesota’s shared state assets like public colleges and universities, water and sewer systems, roads and highways, and more.

The bill includes $45.172 million for the Hastings Veterans Home, $17.5 million for construction of the Hastings water treatment project to remove PFAS from the city’s drinking water, and $9.6 million to Cottage Grove for a critical road project at Highway 19A and 100th Street, which preserves already secured federal funding.

“This investment in the clean water infrastructure that our residents expect and deserve is a huge win for the people of Hastings, and I’m proud that we got it included in our final bonding bill,” said Senator Seeberger. “I’ve been fighting to secure this funding, and would not have voted for a bill that did not include this critical provision. While we have more work to do, this will make our water safer and help keep the water rates manageable for the people of Hastings.” ###
