St. Paul, Minn. – Earlier today, Governor Tim Walz unveiled his budget proposal. In response Senator Karla Bigham (DFL-Cottage Grove) released the following statement:
“Today’s budget proposal reflects a strong commitment to the values and priorities that have and continue to make Minnesota a great state. This budget prioritizes a good education for every Minnesotan by closing existing funding gaps and increasing access to early education and takes steps in reducing the costs of health care by extending low-cost coverage to thousands of Minnesotans.
The proposal also makes a strong investment in state aid to local government and counties. This increased funding for county and local government will provide direct property tax relief for thousands of Minnesotans. I’m also encouraged by the Governor’s commitment to the Angel Tax Credit to support innovation and economic development in Minnesota.
I’m also strongly supportive of the Governor investing new funding in school safety including funding supporting the development of threat assessment teams in our schools.”
