Senator Koenen Statement on Budget Forecast

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota’s State Economist, Laura Kalambokidis announced that the state is projected to have a $1 billion surplus when the state’s policy makers return to the Capitol in 2015. Senator Lyle Koenen (DFL-Clara City) sees the good news as yet another sign of the state’s continued economic recovery and what sound fiscal policies can lead to.

“Beginning in 2012, we have made it a priority to have a fair, responsible and honest budget that puts Minnesota on firm financial ground. Our economic recovery continues to outpace much of the country, and we will continue to pursue a strategy that ensures Minnesota’s long-term economic stability. Obviously, there remains much work to be done, and there will be much discussion around how to best move forward. I hope to see continued economic success in the February Forecast when we can make our final budget recommendations,” said Sen. Koenen.
